Child Safety Seats can be checked at any fire station in the City of Chesapeake at no cost. Feel free to stop by between the hours of 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Before arriving at the fire station, please prepare for your visit by:
- Knowing your child’s current weight and height.
- Install your safety seat as best as possible. Be familiar with the parts and installation of the safety seat in your vehicle.
- Bring your safety seat manual and your vehicle owner’s manual with you.
Visit NHTSA.gov for more useful information on choosing the right seat for your child, videos on how to properly install the seat, and sign up for recall information.
- Participants will complete a child safety seat check form to provide information about their safety seat and child.
- The safety seat will be checked for proper fit to your child, expiration date, and recalls.
- Education will be provided on how to install the safety seat and use the harness.
- The Participant will install the child safety seat into the vehicle.
